Volkswagen is an automobile manufacturer based in Wolfsburg, Germany. It is also the core enterprise of Volkswagen Group, one of the four largest automobile manufacturers in the world. 2016 ranked seventh in Fortune 500.

Volks means "national" in German, Wagen means "car" in German, and the full name means "national car", so it is often referred to as "VW". Taiwan is translated as Fox Motor, Hong Kong, Macao and mainland are translated as Volkswagen or Fox Motor, which means "people's car". In 2012, the automobile group produced and sold more than 9.07 million vehicles, while the Volkswagen brand produced more than 5.74 million vehicles.

On November 14, 2013, the State Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection (AQSIQ) announced that Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd., FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd. had decided to recall some Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda cars from November 25, 2013, totaling 640309 vehicles (landing).

In October 2014, FAW-Volkswagen again announced the recall of some of the new Sultan and Beetle cars.

A notice issued by the State Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection said that Volkswagen would recall 78,000 imported cars in China because of defects in the steering column of the vehicles. The recalled vehicles include some imports of Tourway, Yiou, Shangku, Shangku R, Cross-Border Golf, Golf Travel Edition, Golf R, Maiteng Travel Car, Maiteng All-Road Vehicle, CC and Xialang Vehicle from January 22, 2009 to May 6, 2014. March 15, 2018, CCTV 3.15 evening party exposure, Volkswagen Touaret engine water intake failure led to failure to start. On August 25, 2018, Volkswagen officially announced that it would independently launch the electric "We Share" car sharing service. The car sharing service will be launched for the first time in Berlin next spring.

In December 2018, World Brand Laboratory published the Top 500 World Brands 2018, ranking 39.
